Market research workers in Australia have overwhelmingly voted to approve their industry agreement, negotiated by the National Union of Workers with the employer body, Association of Market and Social Research Organisations (AMSRO). The 97% yes vote was a ringing endorsement of the hard work from members, delegates and activists over the last twelve months.

The agreement retains all of the hard won conditions that interviewers rely upon. In addition it guarantees a yearly wage increase, provides for greater notice of shift cancellations and requires companies to encourage union membership.

AMSRO require all member companies to comply with the new agreement from 1 January 2013, however the agreement still needs to be formally approved by the Fair Work Commission.

There are always opportunities for members to take a more active role in their union, if you would like to know more email marketresearch@nuw.org.au

A copy of the agreement is available here for members reference.
