BECTU members take fifth day’s action after management diktat

BBCTour guides at the BBC are today on strike after their pay was cut by 17%.

The BECTU members, who earlier in the month took four days strike action, are also angry at being compelled to wear uniforms for guiding duties.

BECTU assistant general secretary Luke Crawley said: “Our members feel that this issue must be resolved through negotiation, not through heavy-handed diktat.

“By forcing through a 17% pay cut, the BBC has shown its contempt for the guides leaving them with no option but to continue the industrial action. Our wish is to see genuine talks re-opened.”

The guides have also today begun a work-to-rule.
