The RMT has suspended this weekend’s strike action at Amey after the company tabled an improved offer that will allow further talks to take place.

Union members were to strike tomorrow and Sunday in a dispute over pay and conditions after bosses pulled out of talks in the middle of negotiations, leading the RMT to describe them as “bully boys”.

General secretary Bob Crow said: “Pulling the current offer, instead of getting round the table and negotiating a way forward in this dispute, is a confrontational and provocative act.”
