Unite says a strike which threatened top disrupt Bank Holiday traffic across the Severn bridges has been suspended after an agreement.

Unite regional officer, Jeff Woods, said: “Following a meeting today between Unite staff representatives and Severn River Crossing (SRC) management, Unite has suspended the 24-hour strike action that was due to start on Friday 24 August.

“Unite and the company have reached agreement on a range of issues, including those that initiated the vote in favour of industrial action.”

Officials say further meetings are planned to work out details of the settlement.
