Brick kiln workers in negotiations with employer representatives, Ajmer, 11 December

Ajmer, 11th December – The brick kiln workers of Ajmer today ended their strike after a settlement with employers on their main demands.

The workers went on strike yesterday demanding a hike in wages.

Today the employers came in a group to Ashok Udyan and held a meeting with the striking workers and representatives of the Union. They agreed to hike wages. The wages of the main category of workers ‘thapera‘ were hiked from Rs. 400 to Rs. 470/-.

Similar hikes were agreed upon for other category of workers. The employers also agreed not to deduct medical expenses from their monthly fod expenses.

This is the first time that a collective agreement has been reached with the workers.
