We speak to Leiv Martin Green of the Youth Committee of the Norwegian union Industri Energi. Leiv talks about his union, and in particular the success it has had in recruiting and motivating young members. It has done this by giving them a significant degree of autonomy.
Leiv also talks about the recent parliamentary elections in Norway, where the ruling Red-Green coalition has lost power to a right wing coalition, expected to contain both the Conservative and Progress parties. Like Conservatives trying to get themselves into power everywhere, Norway’s Tories rebranded and attempted to detoxify themselves. Leiv wonders how long it will be before the mask slips and the new coalition begins attacking workers’ rights. The Progress party is worrying too, as it is economically right wing libertarian, and extremely anti-immigrant.
