GMB-Trade-Union living wage

The roots of Britain’s cost of living crisis lie in the fact that work simply no longer pays for millions of people across the country. Housing costs and utility bills are increasing and childcare and food is becoming more and more unaffordable in the face of declining wages.

The GMB union has produced a pamphlet that outlines six ways in which the living crisis should be tackled.

How to make work pay

  • A £10 per hour minimum wage
  • A new campaign for an 8 hour day
  • Rent controls
  • Free childcare
  • Close tax loopholes
  • Give unions access to workplaces to support workers
