A folk band from Banbury has launched a bid to become the Christmas number one with an anti-austerity single entitled We’re all in this Together.

Leatherat hopes the song will send a message to the government to step down and stop slashing our services and our welfare state. All proceeds from the single will go to UK Uncut and Occupy, and to be in with a chance at hitting the Christmas number one spot, the track must be downloaded between the 19th and the 24th December.

The video, shot by Fresh FX’s Jonny Ruffle, was filmed with friends in Banbury and London, including an impromptu concert to the Occupy protesters at the foot of St Paul’s Cathedral. It was written after the band attended the TUC March Against The Cuts in London earlier in the year.

“We want this to be the Xmas number one to finally tell Cameron to listen and either to resign or change things,” said Leatherat’s fiddle player Jono Watts.

“Please, please share these links on your social networks and to all your friends….if we can get everyone to buy this track we might be in with a shot at changing the state of the UK.”
