Labor rights are protected on Trade Union Networks – Brazil

The CUT representative, José Drummond highlighted the strategies of this project CUT / iOS /DGBBW / CNM / CNQ, which began in 2011 and runs until December 2014.

José Drummond (CUT) talks about the German networks in meeting

“It’s a different approach to the “strategy of organizing unions in multinational networks ” CUT and its branches, in this case involving CNM and CNQ which are the two branches together with their counterparts in Germany (IGMetall and IGBCE) decided to join forces in this strategy.

In this project’s case, which is the ”Brazilian” part of a project that DGB has with partners in Latin America and that is called “Promotion of Labour Rights in Latin America”, focuses on taking into account our experience on organising networks, “he explained.

According to Drummond, the goal by 2014 will be to reach a level of ”best practices” based on international standards of the ILO and OECD and taking into account the German experiencein the ”Permanent Practice of Social Dialogue” questioning ”why?” the same can not be practiced here as in Germany.

What we want, Drummond says, ”is to put into practice the assumptions on existing ILO declarations and Germany, plus the EU, the right to information and consultation practiced in companies there. This requires that workers be represented unitarily (preferred) in union alliances that we call NETWORKS, so they can go to the table, united and not divided betweenvarious unions, weakening the bargaining power, “adds Drummond.

The Social Observatory Institute - (IOS) is responsible for providing quality information and training for the work of union networks. The project also seeks to show how networks andunions can work collaboratively to improve the socio-labour conditions.

The goal of IOS is that the work of the social networks that are part of the project is strengthened by focusing positively in this direction, working conditions and union organizationand mobilization.
