Brick kiln workers rally on 23rd December 2012 in Haripura, Mandal

Our partners in India, Prayas centre for labour research and action, have published their annual report of the organising work supported by USi and your donations.

Some of the achievements include:

  • Formation of a brick kiln workers’ union
  • A 30% wage increase for some categories of workers
  • Growing awareness of the law on bonded labour
  • Government provision of public services – schools are opened as the project has registered children

This has all been made possible through your donations and the organising work on the ground. The best way to end poverty is organise the poor into unions so that they can bargain for better conditions.
