USi’s supporting union in Austria – ProGe – are involved in an ongoing dispute at the Austrian site of the company KBA (König and Bauer, a German producer of printing machinery). The management announced a massive lay off due to alleged economic problems.

The company have announced 460 jobs of totally 750 in Austria should be made redundant.  Recently on January 24 and 27 protest meetings with more than 500 workers were held at the company; urging the management to reverse the announcement of massive lay-offs and seek for solutions to secure the plant and the workplaces in jeopardy.

On 4 February 2014 a new negotiation round between union representatives and management is set to take place. If the management is not willing to concede, the workers and their representatives of the plant have our fully support for strike action.

You can also show the workers support by leaving a message on their Facebook page.
