The RMT has defended taxi drivers after a cabbie felt the full wrath of former Tory minister David Mellor.

Mellor started arguing with the driver about the quickest way to get to his destination, calling him  a “sweaty, stupid little shit”.

Responding to the argument, which was recorded and reported in The Sun, RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “Driving a taxi in London is hard enough without having some pumped-up, pompous former Tory minister telling you how to do your job. If you want an example of the political elite’s sheer contempt for the working class then this incident has it in shed loads.”
