Solidarity4all is a fantastic Greek initiative to resist the destruction of society by providing person to person support and solidarity. In a world increasingly filled with despair, It provides an inspiring example of how we can fight back against austerity, and support each other to build a society based on need and solidarity.

Below you can read their report on the social conditions in Greece after four years of implementation of two bailouts and three memoranda by the governments of the Troika. As is evident the harsh austerity measures have brought Greece and its people into the verge of a humanitarian crisis, especially in the poorer parts of the country and among the working classes.

However the second part of the report documents illustrates the ways that the Greek people have been resisting and organising themselves. It is focuses especially on the multiple social solidarity structures and actions that have emerged as self-organised initiatives by the people in neighbourhoods, and more recently in work places, too.

The desolate picture of the permanent shock therapy that composes the Greek experiment for the capitalist classes and their political elites, is counteracted by the hope that springs from the mobilisation of hundreds grassroots initiatives by people who refuse to submit.

The dire social conditions in Greece are being used as an example by the dominant classes abroad, in order to discipline their own people and gain their consensus for the (more or less gradual) introduction of austerity measures. They have been using the Greek people as the guinea pig for a neoliberal answer to the systemic crisis of neoliberalism and capitalism itself.

The most efficient way to resist their attempts to turn Greece into a picture of the (dark) future of the world, it is to shed light on the resistance and the resilience of the Greek people. Out of the polymorphous struggles of the last years in any social level, with the participation of people that had never before imagined themselves taking part in any kind of political action, has emerged a different political paradigm of people’s self-organisation.

This political experience and developing movement is the Greek contribution to the acceleration of the overthrowing the regimes of austerity and of the financial dictatorships everywhere, and also for a deeper social transformation by the people and the working classes themselves.

It is this effort of the people in Greece that we need to share and support, through the development of a broad international Greek solidarity campaign.

Solidarity4all need your support and feedback, and your proposals on how to enhance actual solidarity activities towards the Greek people and its movement, on how to make most effective the international Greek solidarity campaign.
