Unite leader says party has nothing to offer to working people

UKIPUnite general secretary Len McCluskey has said UKIP offers nothing for working people.

Speaking in the wake of Thursday’s Eastleigh by-election, he said: “Working people should not be by fooled by UKIP. While Labour MEPs supported a curb on bankers’ bonuses this week, UKIP and the Tories opposed it. UKIP showed that it is on the side of the one per cent and for a deregulated Europe that gives free reign to the casino bankers who caused the crash.

“They know people are fearful and fed up under austerity but instead of offering honest, genuine solutions, they resort to tired distortions and clichés about ‘foreigners’.

“With nothing to say on saving the NHS from the clutches of privateers, UKIP offers nothing for working people. Just like the Tories it is a ‘nasty party’ on the side of the rich bankers who caused the economic misery that is inflicting so much pain on ordinary working people.”
