Sudhir tells USi of the team’s efforts in Hyderabad were 20,000 are involved in the surrounding area.

Results achieved so far which Sudhir discusses include:

  • Brick kiln workers wage hike/increased up to 30 percent
  • Before the workers wage was 300 rupees while after the negotiation workers wages increased up to 400 rupeesThis is major achievement for the team because 65 to 70 present brick kiln workers are pattla workers.
  • Formation of brick kiln workers union. The union held its first meeting in February 2013.
  • Awareness built on bonded labour law.
  • Government order issued for implementation of public services. The bhilwara district education department opened 25 schools on brick kiln in Mandal-Asind cluster.
  • The union filed 154 bonded labour applications to district magistrate releasing brick kiln workers.
  • The team mapped 100 brick kilns in MandalAsind cluster.
