10 April 2015 marks 15 years of the Direct Provision System in Ireland.
We will be marking this date with a moments silence for the years of limbo, the children growing up, and the lives lost in the Direct Provision system.
Asylun seekers are put into centres, dispersed around the country, housed in small rooms, given €19.10 a week, with no control over what they eat, when they eat, respect for cultural needs. They cannot work and cannot access education. It’s inhumane, removes dignity and there are high levels of depression.
People met at 1pm outside the Department of Justice on Friday 10 April, were invited to say a few words and stand with us in solidarity as we repeat yet again, #EndDP. Stop the suffering. Stop the damage. Let people move on with their lives here in Ireland.
