Local discussions took place with Unite representatives and the management team leading to a voluntary recognition agreement being signed, which covers the lorry drivers servicing an Argos contract. The drivers are based at the Argos National Distribution Centre in Barton-under-Needwood, near Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
Unite regional officer Rick Coyle said: “This agreement is the result of the commitment and effort our members put in and I am pleased all their hard work paid off. Now that they have achieved union recognition, pay talks are already underway.
“In this the age of austerity, it’s increasingly true to say that it is unionised workers who are still getting pay rises. We now look forward to working with the company to benefit all concerned.”
