Dundee airportBosses at the Scottish airports hit by strike action have issued a press release to workers, calling on them to return to work.

Prospect members working for HIAL’s security company AMSL are coming to the end of a 48-hour strike over equal treatment. Members of the travelling public cheered when they walked out at Inverness Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

When the strike finishes at noon today, the workers will begin an overtime ban and a ban on working on rest days.

Prospect national secretary Alan Denney said: “I received an email from HIAL only after it had issued a press release calling on union members to suspend their strike and return to the negotiating table.

“Prospect’s position has always been that it stands ready to discuss the terms of any formal written offer. However, it appears this is simply another offer of talks about talks. We’ve been doing that on an off for six years now.

“Without an offer we will not be suspending the strike and resuming talks.”
